Fort Vause

Fort Vause is a typical bluegrass, old school country, Americana band from Montgomery County made up of George Smith, Jeff Wilcke and Tim Thornton. George has played his banjo on Jack Hinshelwood and Buddy Pendleton recordings. Jeff, who plays mandolin and guitar, learned about mountain music in mountainless Iowa, but he’s adapted to the Appalachian version quite well. Tim plays bass and guitar, but he slipped onto a Black Twig Pickers CD once playing a banjo. Lately they’ve been joined by award-winning fiddler Aran Garnett-Deakin. When she’s not sawing on fiddle tunes or singing Sierra Ferrell covers, Aran can be heard playing with the Virginia Tech Philharmonic Orchestra.
